Ten years ago, before Lightbulb Learning Services was even an idea, Amy Stempel started AYP Consulting, an independent consortium of educators and policy makers who assist schools and teachers in making a difference in kids' lives. Our combined years in the classroom working with a variety of students have enabled us to work with teachers and schools to improve student achievement. It also informs and strengthens all that we do at Lightbulb Learning Services.

AYP Consulting is able to draw on specialists with vast experience in education policy, secondary and post-secondary teaching, curriculum development, and civil rights. While there is no magic bullet in the fight to improve student achievement in this country, we have the combined experience to help schools and districts think through the necessary steps and achieve the necessary results—making sure ALL students are learning the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the modern world.

Along with individualized district-level process analysis, AYP Consulting has developed job-embedded, interdisciplinary, school-level professional development structure, FLEX Teams™, that teach the strategies to help teachers address areas of student academic weaknesses. We work closely with teachers and students to ensure academic growth and deeper understanding of the curricula necessary for change.

While there is no magic bullet in the fight to improve student achievement, AYP Consulting and Lightbulb Learning Services have the combined experience to help schools and districts think through the necessary steps and get the necessary results from everyone in the building--administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

Along with individualized process analysis, AYP Consulting has developed a job-embedded rotation of interdisciplinary, school-level professional development workshops, the Invisible Skills Workshops that teach the strategies to help teachers address student academic weaknesses.

At Lightbulb Learning Services we commit to improving individual student achievement. At AYP Consulting we commit to working in partnership with districts and teachers to help them get where they need to be--educating ALL kids to high levels.

This is no hit-and-run professional development. We commit to working in partnership to help districts and schools get where they need to—educating ALL kids to high levels.

Poverty, race, ethnicity and immigration status are not in themselves determinative of student achievement. Demography is not destiny. The amount of melanin in a student's skin, the home country of her antecedents, the amount of money in the family bank account, are not the inexorable determinants of academic success. The evidence introduced at trial demonstrates that these negative life experiences can be overcome by public schools with sufficient resources well deployed. It is the clear policy of the state, as formulated by the Regents and S.E.D. [State Education Department], that all children can attain the substantive knowledge and master the skills expected of high school graduates. The court finds that the city's at-risk children are capable of seizing the opportunity for a sound basic education if they are given sufficient resources.

Good-Bye & Thank You Arlington, VA (USA)!!!

Although not located in Arlington or the USA anymore, I’m still available via Skype (arstempel) and email for webinars and on-line workshops.

In addition, I will be in the US each summer (mid-June through July) and will be available for face-to-face workshops at that time.

Hello Bangalore (INDIA)!

I look forward to more time for writing and publishing as a result of the move. Check back for publications as they emerge.
